Jordan Trips – 1, 1.5, or 3 day trips

Jordan Trips – 1, 1.5, or 3 day trips

PETRA:  Admired in antiquity for its refined culture, massive architecture, and ingenious complex of dams and water channels, Petra is now a UNESCO world heritage site and one of the New 7 Wonders of the World that enchants visitors from all around the globe.

Petra (Greek, meaning stone) is an historical and archaeological city, established sometime around the 6th century BCE as the capital city of the Nabataeans (an industrious Arab people who settled in southern Jordan more than 2600 years ago). It is a symbol of Jordan as well as its most visited tourist attraction. It lies on the slope of Mount Hor, in a basin among the mountains which form the eastern flank of Arabah (Wadi Araba), the large valley running from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba. The site remained unknown to the Western world until 1812, when it was introduced by Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt. It was described as "a rose-red city half as old as time" in a Newdigate Prize-winning poem by John William Burgon.

Please note that the 1 and 1.5 day tours to Jordan leave from Eilat, the 3 day tour leaves from either Tel Aviv or Jerusalem. You can build your own itinerary by choosing which hotel you'd like, for how many nights and then adding trips to Jordan. We also have hotels available in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem should you need one.

You can book these options at any time, even once you are in Israel, but the sooner you book, the better!

P1 - "A Taste of Petra" from Eilat - operates daily

1 day tour to Jordan: Leaves from and returns to Eilat.

Rate: $245* per person.

Pick up from Eilat hotels. Transfer to Arava Border, cross to Jordan and travel through the “Desert Highway” to Petra (about 2 hours).

In Petra, walking begins from the gate of the Archaeological Park. The approach through a kilometer-long cool chasm (or "Siq"), a long narrow gorge whose steeply rising sides all but obliterate the sun, provides a dramatic contrast with the magic to come. Suddenly the gorge opens into a natural square dominated by Petra's most famous monument, the Treasury (El-Khazneh), and its intricately carved facade glows in the dazzling sun. The rock-carved rose-red city of Petra is full of mysterious charm. It was "designed to strike wonder into all who entered it." Proceed on to the Amphitheatre, Kings' Tombs, Roman Market Road & more. Hear the story of the Nabataeans, who established Petra as their capital on the “Spice Route."  Lunch in Petra before leaving the site. After leaving Petra, enjoy a short city tour in Aqaba and reach the Arava border, ending the tour at Eilat airport or Eilat hotels.

Rates include:

  • Transportation in A/C bus and English speaking guide
  • Entrance fees to Petra and lunch in a restaurant inside Petra

Rates do not include:

  • Visa, border taxes and tips ($50 per person)
  • Tip to horseman at Petra
